MICROWAVE CALORIMETER
The microwave calorimeter is used for measuring the energy of nano- and microsecond X-band high-power microwave pulses. The calorimeter comprises a plane wide-aperture microwave absorbing load, a control and measuring unit, a calibrator, and a set of connecting cables. The operation of the calorimeter is based on the expansion of the working liquid in the absorbing load due to microwave energy absorption in the liquid. The load is suspended upstream of the aperture of the receiving antenna of a microwave oscillator. The control and measuring unit ensures preliminary automatic heating of the absorbing load and zero adjustment for calibration and for measurement of the microwave energy. The output signal is recorded with an oscilloscope.
